One of the greatest problems with plastic pollution is the effect that it is having on our oceans, seas and river systems. But we believe that if we work together to both remove plastics and stem the tide of plastic pollution entering the world’s waterways, we can begin to reverse the environmental impact.
We want to take the plastic pollution from our waterways and repurpose it for consumer use. We are currently working with recognised certification bodies to ensure that we can guarantee that the waste plastic that we use in our rPET is from these sources and we’re supporting people & organisations who dedicate their time to collecting plastic waste from our shores in the uk and overseas.
That is why, this Christmas, we have chosen to support the Marine Conservation Societies’ Great British Beach Clean.
Operating across the UK, this now iconic annual event has been tackling ocean & helping make some of the most significant impacts on beach litter ever – the plastic bag charge, banning microplastics in personal care products, better wet wipe labelling, and supporting a tax on single-use plastic items.
In addition to picking up 319 tonnes of litter at our Great British Beach Cleans, the data that they collect is shared with the International Coastal Clean-up (ICC), contributing to a worldwide report on litter levels. MCS also analyses the data and uses the results to raise awareness of pollution and tackle it at source in the UK.
We wouldn’t have been able to provide this support without the continued support of our loyal customers and stakeholders and we’d like to thank you all.
